Tracing Lines, 2015-Ongoing
Tracing Lines is an annually re-occurring gesture that replicates a handmade wire hanger found in the artist's Portland home. The original form was created by the houses' previous owner to hang notes for routine maintence and the upkeep of appliances. This was the final hanger found by the artist and the only one to not contain a massage, marking the end of the artists conversation with the previous owner. The work suggests that biographical comparisons can be drawn between people through 'things' and that objects, like human subjects have agency. The project will continue until the artist moves from the house and a final hanger will be left for the new owner.
