Marriage Studies are an on-going series of collage works that explore notions of serendipity and coincidence.
Each image is removed from it's original context (book, magazine, etc) to become part of a large physical resource library or collection of source images. I routinely revisit this library in search of visual juxtapostions, or oddities that can be used to develop a formal, practical or conceptual logic to connect two otherwise independently existing images.
What at first appear to be coincidental pairings are actually the result of a refined attention to visual detail. The process questions whether serendipitdy is an accidental act of discovery or if it is the result of routine and a devotion to process.
